These 3 words have almost the same pronunciation – de, confusing many of our pupils. This is even more apparent in spelling. When teachers read out the words/ sentences, some pupils have no idea which “de” to write.
Here are some simple tips on using these 3 words:
的 + 名词 (nouns)
的 is always followed by a noun or pronoun. For example:
地 + 动词 (verbs)
地 is always followed by a verb. For example:
动词 (verb) / 形容词 (adjective) + 得 + 怎么样（elaboration）
得 is a bit more complicated to use because we have to read the entire phrase. For example:
